(57) [Problem] To provide a nickel-hydrogen secondary battery having excellent self-discharge characteristics during high-temperature storage. SOLUTION: A separator made of a nonwoven fabric made of a polyolefin fiber subjected to a hydrophilization treatment is provided between a positive electrode 2 supporting nickel hydroxide powder as a main component and a negative electrode 4 supporting a hydrogen storage alloy powder as a main component. In the nickel-hydrogen secondary battery enclosed in the battery can 1 together with the alkaline electrolyte, the electrode group 5 formed with the intermediary 3 interposed therein contains impurities eluted in the alkaline electrolyte.
