abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To suppress generation of ionic afterimage. SOLUTION: Each of the substrates facing each other via a liquid crystal, A pixel electrode formed in each pixel region on the liquid crystal side surface of one of the substrates and a counter electrode for generating an electric field between the pixel electrode and a liquid crystal side surface of each substrate are arranged in contact with the liquid crystal. The liquid crystal has a positive or negative dielectric anisotropy, and the material has a diamine structure that traps ionic impurities in its material.
