titleOfInvention | Polymer dispersed liquid crystal device |
abstract | (57) [Problem] To improve the scattering intensity of an opaque state in a polymer dispersion type liquid crystal element using a dual frequency driving liquid crystal, and to apply it to a paper-like display. SOLUTION: A mixture of a precursor of a polymer compound and a dual-frequency driven liquid crystal with an amphiphilic gelling agent added thereto is sealed in a cell, and the precursor is polymerized to form a dual-frequency driven liquid crystal in a polymer matrix. At the same time as dispersing the liquid crystal droplets in the form of droplets, both the polymer matrix and the liquid crystal droplets contain an agglomerate of an amphiphilic gelling agent. In addition to the difference in the ratios, a light scattering effect of the agglomerates of the amphiphilic gelling agent results in a paper-like opaque state. |
