(57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To reduce the amount of water in a reaction system without strict control and without using hydrogen gas as a reducing agent. -To provide a method for efficiently producing a halohydrin compound. SOLUTION: An α-halohydrin compound is produced by using a solid oxide such as silica-alumina as a catalyst and reducing an α-haloketone compound with a primary alcohol compound or a secondary alcohol compound. |
