abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cerium oxide-based abrasive having a new standard and capable of realizing a high-accuracy polished surface which can perform high-speed polishing and scarcely cause scratches, and the present invention. Provided is a method for easily evaluating the polishing characteristics of a cerium oxide-based abrasive by using the criteria clarified in (1). A cerium oxide-based abrasive mainly comprising a rare earth oxide containing cerium oxide is provided. The pore volume of the material was 0.002 to 0.1 cm 3 / g. Then, a predetermined amount of the cerium oxide-based abrasive to be evaluated was weighed, and the pore volume of the weighed cerium oxide-based abrasive was measured, whereby the characteristics of the abrasive could be easily evaluated. |
