abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial composition containing a high concentration of antibacterial calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, or a mixture thereof and having a low aqueous solution pH. SOLUTION: The composition contains one or both of a calcium oxide / α-amino acid chelate compound and a calcium hydroxide / α-amino acid chelate compound. This antibacterial composition is obtained by reacting calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, or a mixture thereof with an α-amino acid in the presence of water.
