abstract (57) [PROBLEMS] To improve the read speed between different memory cell arrays in an overlay type memory system. SOLUTION: In an overlay type memory system, each memory cell array is activated independently of other memory cell arrays, and furthermore, the activated state of each memory cell array is maintained, so that different memory cell arrays can be activated. An object of the present invention is to provide a memory system which does not cause a delay in read speed due to activation of a memory cell array, resetting and precharging at the time of reading.
