abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a (meth) acrylic acid ester having a condensed ring or cross-linked ring structure containing a γ-butyrolactone structure in a molecule, a raw material alcohol thereof, and a simple, high-yield, high-productivity An excellent method for their production is provided. SOLUTION: The (meth) acrylic acid ester of the present invention is represented by the following formula (1), and reduces an addition product obtained by a Diels-Alder reaction between 1,3-diene and maleic anhydride. Is produced by subjecting an alcohol obtained by hydration to (meth) acrylic esterification. Embedded image (In the formula (1), R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , and R 4 are a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an ethyl group, and one of X 1 and X 2 is A (meth) acryloyloxy group and the other is a hydrogen atom.
