abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base made of a melamine foam made from a melamine resin as a raw material and having high flame retardancy and soundproofing due to sound absorption, and to provide a moisture-proof layer at required positions on the inner and outer surfaces of the base. By providing the modified melamine structural material which does not cause structural deterioration such as strength with time even when used under high humidity, a method for producing the same is provided. SOLUTION: On a base material 12 made of a melamine resin foam, a desired position on the inner and outer surfaces of the base material 12 is coated to form a moisture-proof layer 14 exhibiting moisture-proof properties, and hydrolysis proceeds.
