abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper foil for a printed wiring board which is soluble in alkali etching and any other etching, and is excellent in chemical resistance and heat resistance, and a method for producing the same. A copper foil for a printed wiring board, comprising an alloy layer made of cobalt-nickel-tungsten on at least one surface of the copper foil, and optionally having a chromate film layer on the layer, and cobalt. Cathodic electrolysis of a copper foil in an electrolytic solution containing nickel and tungsten to form a cobalt-nickel-tungsten layer and, optionally, providing a chromate film layer on the hexavalent chromium-containing layer.
