abstract | (57) [Problem] An olefin polymerization catalyst having excellent polymerization activity and capable of obtaining a (co) polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution and composition distribution. A polymerization method using the catalyst is provided. The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises (A) a transition metal compound represented by the following formula (I), (B-1) an organometallic compound, and (B- 2) An organic aluminum oxy compound and (B-3) one or more compounds selected from compounds which react with the transition metal compound (A) to form an ion pair. In the formula (I), M is a transition metal atom of Group 4 of the periodic table, and m is 1 to 4 R 1 to R 8 are H, halogen, a hydrocarbon group or the like, n is a number satisfying the valence of M, and X is a halogen, a hydrocarbon group or the like.
