PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for oxidizing an organic compound having an olefinic carbon-carbon double bond. A tungsten compound comprising tungsten metal, molybdenum metal, tungsten and a Group IIIb, IVb, Vb or Group VIb element other than oxygen, and molybdenum and a Group IIIb, Group IVb, Group Vb group Or an olefinic carbon-carbon double in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst obtained by reacting hydrogen peroxide with at least one metal compound selected from the group consisting of a molybdenum compound comprising a Group VIb element excluding oxygen. A method for oxidizing an organic compound, comprising reacting an organic compound having a bond with hydrogen peroxide. |
