PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a gas diffusion electrode capable of stably obtaining excellent polarization characteristics over a long period of time, and to provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell having excellent output characteristics provided with the gas diffusion electrode. A manufacturing method is provided. SOLUTION: After mixing a catalyst and a fluorinated ion exchange resin in a liquid in which the fluorinated ion exchange resin can be dissolved or dispersed, a liquid component is removed to obtain a solid containing the catalyst and the resin. Thereafter, by cooling and pulverizing the solid, a powder of a resin-coated catalyst coated with a fluorinated ion exchange resin is prepared. Then, a dispersion is prepared by dispersing the obtained powder in a dispersion medium, and a catalyst layer of a gas diffusion electrode is formed using the dispersion. |
