(57) [Summary] [Problem] To produce 4-alkylresorcin with high selectivity in a one-step reaction without using a highly corrosive substance. A resorcinol and an alcohol are mixed with each other under the condition that the alcohol becomes a supercritical state. A method for producing a 4-alkylresorcinol in which a reaction is performed using at least one selected from oxides and hydroxides of metals belonging to Groups A, 4A, 6A, 7A, 8, and 4B as a catalyst. |
