titleOfInvention Projection display device
abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a display panel in which scattered light is absorbed by a light absorbing film and does not return to the liquid crystal layer of each liquid crystal panel again, and thus display contrast is improved. SOLUTION: Light emitted from a lamp 11b is UVI Ultraviolet rays and infrared rays are cut by the R-cut mirror 12a and reflected by the plane mirror 13 to become incident light 283b and enter the dichroic prism 181. The reflection type polymer dispersed liquid crystal panel 15 is attached to the dichroic prism 181. A light absorbing film is formed in an invalid area of the prism. Each of the liquid crystal panels 15 modulates the R, G, and B light, and the modulated light enters the light separating / combining surface 20 of the prism 181 to become outgoing light 283a, which is condensed by the lens 181b and the projection lens 181. Projected to the screen.
