abstract (57) Abstract: An object of the present invention is to automatically execute refresh of a memory cell in a semiconductor memory without being seen from the outside. SOLUTION: It has a plurality of banks that operate independently. The refresh generation circuit generates a refresh request at a predetermined interval. The refresh counter generates a refresh address. The holding circuit holds refresh completion / incomplete information for each memory cell in each bank indicated by the refresh address. When a refresh request is generated, the refresh control circuit refreshes a bank that has not been completely refreshed among banks that are not operating, based on information held in the holding circuit. Since the refresh operation is executed in the non-operating bank, the refresh operation can be automatically executed without being recognized from the outside.
