(57) [Summary] (Modifications) [PROBLEMS] To improve processability without using an epoxy resin containing a component derived from bisphenol A, and substantially without using a surfactant that deteriorates boiling resistance of a cured product. Provided are an aqueous resin composition for a can-making paint having excellent adhesion, boiling resistance and hygiene properties and having the same performance as a conventional water-based paint, and a metal can using the same. SOLUTION: An aqueous dispersion obtained by dispersing a mixture of ethylenically unsaturated monomers in an aqueous medium using an aqueous acrylic polymer having a carboxyl group and a crosslinkable functional group other than the carboxyl group is converted into a carboxyl group. Aqueous resin for can coating composition comprising a thermosetting aqueous resin dispersion obtained by radical polymerization in the presence of an aqueous resin obtained by neutralizing a part or all of the carboxyl groups with a basic compound Composition. |
