(57) [Problem] To provide a method for producing a polar group-containing olefin copolymer from which an olefin polymer can be obtained with high polymerization activity. A method for producing a polar group-containing olefin copolymer comprises: (A) a transition metal compound selected from Groups 3 to 10 of the periodic table (Group 3 also includes lanthanoids and actinoids); And (B-1) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (B-1) an organoaluminum oxy compound, (B-2) a compound which reacts with the compound (A) to form an ion pair, and (B-3) an organoaluminum compound.
