PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method for fractionating tocotrienol from a raw material liquid containing a large amount of tocopherol and tocotrienol, which is not much different from a conventionally known simulated moving bed type chromatographic separation method. And a method that can be implemented on an industrial scale and saves on initial equipment costs and operating costs during operation. Kind Code: A1 A simulated moving bed type chromatographic separation in which a number of columns packed with a hydrophobic reverse phase liquid chromatography adsorbent having an affinity for tocotrienol relatively smaller than that for tocopherol is connected in an endless circulation system. To the apparatus, a raw material liquid of substantially 100% oil containing at least tens of percent of tocopherol and tocotrienol, and a desorbing liquid of ethanol-water = 90/10 are supplied to enrich the tocotrienol. The fractionated solution is separated from tocopherol and collected. |
