(57) [Problem] To provide a neutralization method and a neutralization apparatus capable of neutralizing various alkaline wastewaters without using a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid as a powerful drug. SOLUTION: In this neutralization apparatus, aerobic microorganisms are propagated in a vinylidene chloride packing 10 installed in a neutralization tank 3, and nitrate ions are generated from organic alkali wastewater introduced from a raw water tank 1 by the aerobic microorganisms.
