abstract | (57) [Problem] To provide a simple and accurate method for controlling the hue / gloss of a pearl pigment in a method for producing a mica-based titanium pearl pigment. SOLUTION: When producing mica-based titanium pearl pigment by coating mica surface with titanium oxide with titanium chloride aqueous solution, The color / gloss of the pearl pigment is controlled by changing the chlorine content / titanium content in the titanium chloride aqueous solution. Preferably, the chlorine concentration in the titanium tetrachloride aqueous solution is 20 to 40% by weight and the titanium concentration varies between 5 and 25% by weight. Typically, mica titanium pearl pigments are of the interference color type. The above control method is used in a method for producing a mica-based titanium pearl pigment by suspending mica fine particles in an aqueous solution of titanium chloride, hydrolyzing the aqueous solution of titanium tetrachloride, forming a titanium oxide film on the surface of mica, and firing the same.
