(57) Abstract: The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery and a method for producing the same, wherein the positive electrode active material contains a lithium compound and includes a core and a coating element formed on the core. It comprises a surface treatment layer containing at least one coating material selected from the group consisting of hydroxide, oxyhydroxide, oxycarbonate and hydroxycarbonate. A core comprising at least one lithium compound and at least one coating material selected from the group consisting of hydroxide, oxyhydroxide, oxycarbonate and hydroxycarbonate of a coating element formed on the core.
