SOLUTION: (1) (i) Na, Mg, Ca, Fe, Cations consisting of Co, Zn, Ti, Sn, Sb, Ge and P, and (ii) halogens, NO 2 , NO 3 , PO Total content of anions consisting of 4 and SO 4 is 50 pp m of crude bis-β-hydroxyethyl terephthalate, and then (2) crystallized bis-β-hydroxyethyl terephthalate. A method for purifying bis-β-hydroxyethyl terephthalate by evaporating or distilling hydroxyethyl terephthalate under reduced pressure to purify bis-β-hydroxyethyl terephthalate.
