PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high-purity cobalt having a reduced content of impurities such as copper, a method for producing the same, and a high-purity cobalt target. SOLUTION: Cobalt containing impurities such as copper is dissolved in a hydrochloric acid solution to prepare an aqueous solution of cobalt chloride having a hydrochloric acid concentration of 0.1 to 3 kmol / m3. Next, cobalt is added to the aqueous solution of cobalt chloride, and the mixture is stirred while blowing an inert gas to convert copper contained in the aqueous solution of cobalt chloride into monovalent ions. Subsequently, an aqueous solution of cobalt chloride is poured into a column filled with an anion exchange resin. At this time, monovalent copper is adsorbed on the anion exchange resin, but cobalt is not adsorbed on the anion exchange resin. Therefore, copper can be separated from the aqueous cobalt chloride solution. After that, the aqueous solution of cobalt chloride is evaporated to dryness, and then dried in a hydrogen atmosphere. Heat at a temperature of 23-873K to produce cobalt. |
