abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a fine dispersion of fine zinc oxide, an ultraviolet ray preventing effect represented by an SPF value, a PFA value, etc., a transparency of a finish, and a stability in a system. It is also to provide an excellent sunscreen cosmetic. SOLUTION: The sunscreen cosmetic is characterized in that a fine powder of zinc oxide coated with silicic anhydride and further treated with silicone is subjected to dispersion treatment in oil or water with a medium stirring mill or a high-pressure disperser. A sunscreen cosmetic further containing a polyoxyalkylene-modified polysiloxane. Further, a sunscreen cosmetic further comprising 1% by weight or more of a powder surface-treated with a fatty acid, a fatty acid soap or a fatty acid ester.
