Coated nickel hydroxide powder for alkaline secondary battery, method for producing and evaluating the same |
abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method as a cobalt hydroxide-coated nickel hydroxide powder which is a positive electrode active material for an alkaline secondary battery, and has excellent storage stability and is hardly oxidized. Provided are a coated nickel hydroxide powder capable of obtaining battery characteristics and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A coated nickel hydroxide powder having a chromaticity parameter a value of -8.5 or less, which is evaluated by chromaticity measurement by a Lab method, is suitable as a positive electrode active material. Preferred coated nickel hydroxide powder which has excellent storage properties and can maintain the chromaticity parameter a value at -8.5 or less can be obtained by treating with an aqueous solution containing an antioxidant and incorporating the antioxidant. The antioxidant is preferably a salt of at least one acid selected from ascorbic acid, erythorbic acid and citric acid with an alkali metal. |
