titleOfInvention Internal combustion engine
abstract (57) Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing the SOx poisoning phenomenon of a NOx storage reduction type exhaust purification catalyst and further improving the exhaust gas purification rate. . SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine of the present invention is an internal combustion engine 1 which obtains an output by burning an air-fuel mixture in a cylinder 3 and outputs the mixture from the cylinder 3 after the combustion of the air-fuel mixture. A NOx storage reduction type exhaust purification catalyst 39 for purifying exhaust gas; and sulfur component solidifying means 16, 41, 42 for solidifying a sulfur component that causes a sulfur oxide to be generated after combustion of the internal combustion engine. The sulfur component solidifying means 16, 41, 42 supplies the exhaust gas with an exhaust gas purifying catalyst 39. It is characterized in that 70% or more of the sulfur components contained in the exhaust gas are solidified before flowing into the exhaust gas.
