abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial composition which is excellent in antibacterial properties, has little discoloration and lowers adhesiveness even when stored or heated for a long time, and has excellent storage stability. SOLUTION: A composition comprising an antibacterial salt compound, an acidic group-containing polymerizable monomer, a hydrophilic polymerizable monomer and water, and further a hydroxide of an alkali metal and a strong base containing no aromatic group. The above object can be achieved by blending a basic compound selected from acid salts and aliphatic amines.
