titleOfInvention | Magnetic recording media |
abstract | (57) [Problem] To provide a magnetic recording medium which is excellent not only in recording / reproducing characteristics but also in running stability and durability in recording and reproducing digital signals at high density. A magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer on a flexible non-magnetic support, wherein the magnetic layer comprises a ferromagnetic metal powder, a binder, a fatty acid, and a phosphorus-based or dicarboxylic acid-based magnetic material. The organic compound for modifying the surface of a phosphorus-based or dicarboxylic acid-based magnetic powder contains an organic compound for modifying the surface of the powder, and has physical properties of a molecular weight of 280 or less and a neutralization value of 390 or more. The organic compound for modifying the surface of the magnetic powder is configured to be contained in an amount of 2.5 × 10 −4 g / m 2 or more per unit specific surface area of the ferromagnetic metal powder. |
