abstract (57) [Abstract] [Problem] An electric water heater of a water purification function type requires a water purification filter for storing activated carbon to be installed in a part of an inner container, which is inferior in maintainability and usability. Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an electric water heater that can efficiently remove harmful substances such as trihalomethane, musty odor, lime, and organic solvent contained in water, and that does not require maintenance. SOLUTION: A water tube 4 is provided in a path for extracting a liquid stored in an inner container 2 to the outside of the container, and a photocatalyst layer 4a having a photocatalytic function is formed on an inner surface of the water tube 4, or the inside of the water tube 4 is formed. An electric water heater provided with a plate-shaped filter 15 having a photocatalyst layer 4a formed thereon.
