(57) Abstract A cDNA encoding a plant sucrose binding protein (SBP) is provided with a modified SBP having enhanced sucrose uptake activity in a yeast assay system. Nucleic acid vectors having modified sucrose uptake activity, transgenic cells and transgenic plants are also provided. The present invention also relates to promoter sequences useful in plants for regulating the expression of transgenes, including SBP transgenes. |
