(57) [Summary]nMethods are disclosed for producing glass having both integrated polarized and non-polarized regions, either by ion exchange or exposure to light and heat. The polarization region of the resulting glass is effective in polarizing light rays, ie, the glass exhibits a permanent dichroic behavior and has at least some polarization effect in the wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm. The base glass composition contains Cu, Ag and at least one halide so that the resulting precipitated crystal phase consists of halides. |
