abstract | (57) Abstract: A method for measuring the stress level of a predetermined volume of a polymer or prepolymer composition, said method comprising providing said polymer or prepolymer composition and a coating wherein each microparticle is ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic. Combining the plurality of microparticles with the applied non-ferromagnetic or non-ferrimagnetic core to form a mixture in which the microparticles are substantially uniformly dispersed throughout the composition. The microparticles have detectable magnetic properties that correlate with the stress level of a given volume of the composition. Next, the change in the magnetic properties of the fine particles is measured to determine the stress level of the composition in a predetermined volume. |
