abstract | (57) [Summary]nA method for producing substantially pure polyfluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons from unsaturated hydrocarbons and crude reaction solutions thereof containing halogenated saturated and unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon impurities is disclosed. The method includes, as a first step, treating the crude reaction solution with a dehydrohalogenating agent that does not substantially react with the polyfluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon. This treatment converts halogenated aliphatic impurities to olefin impurities. As a second step to the method of the present invention, the solution formed in the first step is further treated with an agent that converts olefinic hydrocarbon impurities into compounds having a higher boiling point than the desired polyfluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon. I do. Thereafter, the converted impurities are separated from the polyfluorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon. |
