titleOfInvention | Recovery of 3,4-epoxy-1-butene from 1,3-butadiene oxidation effluent |
abstract | (57) Abstract: Epoxidation comprising epoxybutene, butadiene, oxygen, an inert diluent and water, obtained by selectively epoxidizing butadiene with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst and an inert gas An improved method for recovering 3,4-epoxy-1-butene (epoxybutene) from an effluent is disclosed. The epoxybutene is separated from its effluent by an absorption step using liquid butadiene and, optionally, an extractant containing a hydrocarbon diluent. The production of butenediol by the reaction between eoxybutene and water in the recovery step is suppressed by the addition of a base, preferably an alkali metal base, to the recovery system. |
