abstract (57) [Summary]nA multilayer cathode backplate structure for use with a field emission emitter of a display panel is provided. A method for making the structure is also disclosed. The backplate structure is made up of a plurality of electrodes separated by one or more patterned layers of a dielectric formulation, each said patterned layer being patterned by diffusion patterning. It is formed by firing the dielectric formulation of the film.
