titleOfInvention | Laundry additive particles with multiple surface coatings |
abstract | (57) Abstract: Provided are laundry additive particles having a multiplicity of coatings, and compositions using the particles. The laundry additive particles comprise a central core particle. The core particles include a porous carrier core material and a vitreous encapsulant mixed with the carrier material, the vitreous encapsulant being one of an anhydrous, non-plasticized glass transition temperature ( Tg ) of at least 0 ° C. It is derived from the above at least partially water-soluble hydroxyl compound. Any intermediate encapsulating material may be coated on the central core particle. The intermediate encapsulating material may include a carbohydrate material having an anhydrous, non-plasticized glass transition temperature (T g ) of at least 130 ° C. Finally, the outer coating material is coated on the core particles or intermediate encapsulation material to provide laundry additive particles having a substantially non-stick surface. The outer coating material is selected from the group consisting of waxes, water-soluble polymers, fatty compounds, carbohydrates, cellulose and cellulose derivatives, natural and synthetic gums, silicates, borates, phosphates, chitin and chitosan, and mixtures thereof. Derived from one or more compounds that are at least partially soluble or dispersible in the wash liquor. The laundry additive particles have a moisture absorption value of less than about 80%. Preferably, a laundry or washing agent, such as a fragrance, is supported on or contained in the porous carrier. |
