titleOfInvention | Snake electrode for ablation / coagulation |
abstract | SUMMARY The present invention provides devices, systems and methods that use a single electrode structure 10 for resection and ablation. In general, the electrode structure of the present invention consists of a fixation wire shaped to avoid the complexity and restraint often encountered when known removal tools are applied to the high electrosurgical potential required to remove tissue. The required electrosurgical energy is minimized by concentrating the electrical potential on the narrow cutting surface 14, and physician efforts are avoided by minimizing the overall device profile along the selected cutting axis. . In an exemplary embodiment, the serpentine wire 18 has a number of electrosurgical elements arranged in a small cut outer configuration. These elements have a large lateral area 24 for simultaneous ablation of the uterus and other tissues. |
