(57) [Summary] A four-stroke diesel engine provided with a unit injector (6) and a catalytic converter (24) in an engine exhaust system (23) for catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas. This unit injector has pump pistons, which are driven by respective cam elements (12, 13) each having a cam curve (B, C). Each cam element has a first cam ridge (20) for injecting fuel during a normal injection phase of the engine. Also, each cam element has a second cam ridge (21, 22) which feeds into the engine combustion chamber during the exhaust phase of the engine to supply vaporized fuel to the catalytic converter. A so-called post-injection is realized. |
