(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to materials and methods for controlling non-mammalian pests. In certain embodiments, the present invention relates to materials and methods useful for controlling homoptera insects. More specifically, the present invention provides novel Bacillus thuringiensis (B.t.) isolates, strains, toxins, and genes encoding toxins useful for controlling homopterans. Strains HD969, PS66D3, and PS50C are specifically exemplified herein for causing death in homopterans. In a preferred embodiment, the target pest is selected from the group consisting of leafhoppers and plant hoppers. |
