(57) [Summary] A method for detecting microorganisms in test samples will be described. The method comprises dispensing a small amount of 0.01 to 25 microliters of a sample into a plurality of microcompartments of an incubator; incubating the microorganism for a sufficient time to complete at least one cell division cycle; Detecting the presence or absence of microorganisms in the microcompartment. An instrument for performing the method is also disclosed. |
