abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to a method of indicating groups at risk for cardiovascular disease. In particular, the present invention provides the possibility to determine whether a person has an increased risk of cardiovascular disease from smoking, based on a genetic predisposition. A polymorphism has now been found that is clearly associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in smokers as opposed to non-smokers. Smokers who carry a particular allele are at much greater risk than smokers who do not carry this allele. |
