titleOfInvention External defibrillator with CPR prompt and ACLS prompt and method of use
abstract SUMMARY The present invention relates generally to defibrillators, and more particularly, to defibrillators having a built-in CPR prompt system. The present invention also generally relates to a defibrillator having an integrated advanced cardiac life support ("ACLS") prompt system. Defibrillators include manual defibrillators, automatic or semi-automatic external defibrillators ("AEDs"), and defibrillator trainers. More specifically, the present invention is capable of generating audible and / or visual prompts by an audible prompt generator and a visible prompt generator, wherein the defibrillator instructs the rescuer to perform CPR or ACLS. It is directed to a remover system. This instruction can be controlled by a prompt generator and can be an audible prompt or a visible prompt, or a combination of the two. This prompt may be issued at a predetermined rate or may be synchronized. The present invention is also directed to a method of performing a procedure that includes giving an order to a rescuer. This instruction is either a CPR instruction, an ACLS instruction, or a combination of the two. Both ACLS and CPR systems can provide instructions to treat both adult and pediatric patients.
