titleOfInvention | Production of carboxyl compounds and their derivatives |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe palladium-catalyzed arylation of olefins with aryl halides and / or substituted aryl halides is carried out at a temperature lower than the boiling temperature of the solvent when a liquid polar organic solvent and (ii) only one solvent are used. (2) When two or more solvents are used, the reaction is carried out in a secondary or tertiary amine boiling at a temperature lower than the boiling temperature of at least one but not all of the above solvents. I do. The reaction mixture thus formed, which contains an olefin-substituted aromatic compound, an amine hydrohalide and a solvent, is mixed with a concentrated aqueous solution of an inorganic base having a base strength higher than that of the amine. . Thereby, the amine hydrohalide is converted into a free amine and an alkali metal halide, and (i) an aqueous phase containing a dissolved alkali metal halide, (ii) an olefin-substituted aromatic compound, an amine, and a solvent. The resulting organic phase results. After separation of the phases, the amine is distilled from the organic phase under low temperature and pressure conditions that inhibit the thermal oligomerization of the olefin-substituted aromatic compound contained in the organic phase. Once the amine is substantially removed from the organic phase, it is subjected to palladium-catalyzed carboxylation with carbon monoxide and water and / or alcohol. Since the aqueous phase has a relatively high specific gravity, the separation of the aqueous phase is very easy, and the amine can be recovered and the solvent can be efficiently recycled. |
