(57) [Summary]nA multi-component fiber is disclosed wherein at least one component is exposed on at least a portion of the surface of the multi-component fiber to allow for thermal bonding of the multi-component fiber to other fibers. The multi-component fiber contains two poly (lactic acid) polymers having different L: D ratios, making the multi-component fiber biodegradable while facilitating the processing of the multi-component fiber. The multicomponent fibers are useful for producing nonwoven fabrics used in disposable absorbent products for the purpose of absorbing fluids such as body fluids. |
