(57) [Summary]nThe allyl cyanate is produced by reacting a polyhydric phenol with a cyanogen halide in the presence of a tert.-amine at a high temperature as a non-aqueous solution. The tert.-ammonium halide formed as a secondary product is completely or partially removed by treating the reaction mixture with a cation and anion exchanger, whereby the content of halogen compounds is particularly reduced. Low aryl cyanates are obtained. The aryl cyanate produced according to the present invention is a starting material for producing a high temperature resistant polytriazine resin. |
