SUMMARY A method is disclosed for multicasting digital data to a user having access to an Internet connection. The method involves placing digital data to be multicast within an IP protocol to generate IP digital data. The IP digital data is transmitted from the point of transmission (100) to a point of remote Internet presence (55) over a dedicated transmission channel substantially separate from the Internet backbone. The dedicated transmission channel can be, for example, a satellite channel. In the presence of a remote Internet, the IP digital data is multicast for distribution to at least one Internet user's device (A, B, C), but the Internet user's device: Connected to a point of remote Internet presence, but remote from the point of remote Internet presence. |
