Amine-initiated polyether polyol and method for producing the same |
abstract |
(57) [Summary]nEpoxidation of the amine in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide catalyst produces a transparent, amine-initiated polyether polyol. After achieving the desired degree of epoxidation, a sufficient amount of hydroxy-carboxylic acid is added to the epoxidation mixture to neutralize any residual alkali metal hydroxide. The polyols thus produced are particularly useful for producing polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams. |
