abstract (57) [Summary] (1) A coating solution comprising a solvent and a nonionic surfactant having an HLB number of less than 5 is applied to the polymer surface; (2) The surface is dried to remove the solvent, and thus the hydrophobic property by contacting a surfactant directly to the surface, the protein binding level is obtained either from about 50~80ng / cm 2 less than the hydrophilic polymer surface. It has been found that the combination of a low HLB number and a drying step can create a low binding surface that can withstand multiple washes with a solution containing water and / or protein. Alternatively, a low-binding surface can be created by applying a nonionic surfactant to the surface of a mold that contacts the molten polymer and molds the polymer into a desired shape, such as a multiwell titer, pipette mouthpiece, or the like. In addition, a low binding surface can be created by adding a water-insoluble, non-ionic surfactant having an HLB number of 10 or less to the polymer formulation prior to molding the product.
