titleOfInvention | Photocatalytic fluid purification device |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nA compact and efficient reactor for photocatalytically converting contaminants in a fluid, the reactor comprising a photocatalyst in a support structure and an optical proximity of the support structure to activate the photocatalyst. It has a light source. In one embodiment of the invention, the support structure has a large number of non-intersecting fins arranged parallel to the overall flow direction of the fluid, has a low pressure drop, and reduces the contamination of the photocatalyst on the fin surface to the photocatalyst. Provide a reactor that performs sufficient mass transfer. The light source comprises one or more lamps through the fins to illuminate the photocatalyst sufficiently. The fins may be flat or pleated. Alternatively, the fins are pleated and made of a porous material. These fins are arranged so that the fluid passes through the fins. In another embodiment, the support structure comprises one or more cylinders having a pleated inner surface, within which the elongated ramp is disposed. A photocatalyst is provided on the inner surface of the cylinder to convert contaminants passing through the cylinder. The reactor is designed to facilitate removal or replacement of the support structure or light source, and can also be used as a modular subassembly for large fluid purification units. |
